COLLEGE ADMISSION COACHING COMPLIMENTARY CONSULTATION
I meet with a prospective student client and their parents for a 90-minute complimentary intake consultation. During this meeting we will begin to develop a working relationship as well as a framework of priorities for the college search. I will instill an understanding of the current college admission landscape including the application process. We'll look at school-based documents to get a context for the admission process and then discuss the student's academics and extracurricular activities. We'll explore some of the key components that the students may be looking for in a college before I share what to expect on the Common Application. Finally, we'll discuss financial aid considerations. Families will have 24-48 hours to talk over the consultation and decide if they would like to enter into college admission coaching with me.
COLLEGE ADMISSION COACHING SESSIONS
These sessions—in person or via Zoom—can start as early as December of 8th grade, but fall of 11th grade is most common. I do a full analysis of a student's academic and extracurricular history and administer a variety of inventories and assessments to help the student get a feel for the type(s) of colleges that would be a good fit.
11th grade is for building a balanced college list of institutions that are academic, social, and financial fits—and taking the SAT and/or ACT. I can also advise on college visits during the junior year.
The summer before senior year is when we begin working on college admission essays and applications as they become available. My speciality is helping students zero in on their unique values and what they can contribute to a school's campus and allowing that to shine through in all aspects of their application.
Fall of senior year is crunch time! I assist students with putting the finishing touches on their applications and making their essays stand out from the crowd. It's generally the last opportunity to take standardized tests, and it's also the time to get ready for admissions and competitive scholarships interviews.
In the spring we can compare financial aid offers and make sure the student is choosing the best college for their preferences and needs.
